Structural Adaptations
Adaptations for buoyancyA lot of ocean plants have developed gas and air sacs to "lift their photosynthetic surfaces towards the surface of the water" to absorb the sunlight. This is especially important for plants that live deeper in the ocean. An example of a sea plant with this adaptation are sea grapes, more formally known as Sargasso sea weed. Many sea grapes also have a "rough sticky texture", which, paired with strong but flexible body, helps the plant withstand powerful ocean tides.
